The Bubble- How America Spends Their Money

Since the dawn of the age of technology businesses have been figuring out new and quick ways to make money. Internet “stores” have proved to be a win. Like the video pointed out Amazon and Ebay have been quite the success with not only buying products, but allowing people to sell their own products. It seems to me that nearly every successful business has at least a portion online.
Online businesses face the challenge of lacking a personal touch, it is more comfortable for someone who’s buying say a pair of shoes to go to Foot Locker rather than get on Zappos.com and purchase a pair because they have the opportunity to try them on. But on the other hand the opportunity presented by doing business online is huge. The internet reaches millions more people than a business could ever hope without it. By being given the opportunity to sell an idea or product to someone half way across the world, businesses are able to expand their names. You can search for a rare product online that you may not be able to find anywhere else.
Like the video said Amazon.com and Ebay.com seem to be some of the most successful businesses online right now. Since they provide users with the ability to not only shop but also sell that gives people the chance to make money and we know America is all about making a quick dollar.

My iPhone App

After watching “The Buried Life” I was inspired to make my own list (which will come later). My app is called “What Do You Want to Do Before You Die?” its as simple as that. Users can create lists and add friends either by browsing the network of app users or by logging in through Facebook. After you complete a task you can go in and create a blog entry where you can upload photos, videos and a story about what you did, how you felt, etc. The task will then appear with a ~~line~~ through it and will act as a link to the separate page. Here is my attempt at the visual creation of it.

Last evening I’m in a meeting, I hear my phone vibrating again and again. Cool. I think, Twitter. I finally look down and see, GASP they are in fact from REAL people. Real ones! But why? I wait until I’m out of my meeting to read them all. Three text messages from three different people. “woah did you watch idol?! can’t wait till APRIL!”, “hey omg did you see that promo!!?”, “OMG I CAN’T WAIT FOR APRIL!”. Seriously no I did not watch American Idol. Wait, promo? Wait, FOX!? WAIT, APRIL!? Then it HIT ME LIKE A BAG OF BRICKS. GLEE!! I text them all back. My suspicions were correct! The dear old folks of Fox had in fact shown a Glee Promo for the back 9 episodes beginning April 13th during American Idol. I jetted home and got down to business searching for it everywhere. All my trusty Glee blogs reported that it had IN FACT shown. BUT WHY WASN’T THERE A VIDEO!? Answer: it had only been about 30 minutes since it had shown. But I was DETERMINED. Finally. FINALLY. E! Online had it. I watched it. I passed out (metaphorically). I watched it again. I passed out (literally). Then I called my mom and made her watch it. Not that she was nearly as excited as I was. How on earth did a minute long PROMO do this to me? Answer: Glee is the feel good show of the year. Actually its the feel good show of MY LIFE. Everything about it enthralls me. The drama, the comedy and especially the MUSIC. I severely hope I can make it until the 13th of April. My guess is I’ll survive (barely). Here’s the actual video so you can see for yourself. Talk about a TEASER.

P.S. the wait is NO WHERE NEAR over. Here’s to hoping the next 55 days fly by.

A Date with Barney Stinson

I, like most people tuned in February 7th to watch the Super Bowl, however it was a Sunday night so it was more like me watching the Super Bowl and doing homework at the same time. The game was good, the Saints won and I was all about that. But something really caught my eye in between playing time. A Super Bowl commercial that not only grabbed my attention but made me say “that was LEGEN-DARY.” Barney Stinson’s face crossed the screen and every How I Met Your Mother die-hard fans gasped. Really?
Could that be him?! But it was! I immediately jotted the number down and called it. Busy. I tried again. Busy. Third time was a charm, I got through. I reached a recording of Barney Stinson promising me a date at MacLaren’s bar on October 12, 2016 at 3:45 AM. It was pretty epic. The number was disconnected the next day when the episode aired. The episode like many was all fluff and no clues about the Mother. But for someone who’s week is more or less centered around the show, that was good enough for me. Getting new content two nights in a row was probably the best part. Why I got so excited? Who knows, all I know is that I’ll be waiting at MacLaren’s bar in New York City October 12, 2016 for the incredible Barney Stinson.

PC VS. MAC

As a faithful Microsoft user, I have been since I was 7 and first became a computer user, I must tip my hat to Microsoft. However just because I am a fan of the Microsoft computer, because to be honest the mac just confuses me, Apple is a company that is clearly moving mountains. Their products are literally changing the way people look at technology. I have had an iPod since I was 14 and have been seriously considering getting an iPhone since they came out, my goal is to get one for Christmas. As far as I’m concerned the two companies should continue their battle to be on top, that is what leads to new and exciting products like the iPad and Windows 7. One without the other could lead to a plateau of technological advances. Mac VS. PC will never get old in my book.

Bill Gates is someone who has always been the face for Microsoft. He has been in the public eye as an innovator for years while Steve Jobs left Apple for awhile he is now the official face of the company. Steve Jobs is becoming more and more to Apple what Bill Gates is to Microsoft even though that has not always been the case. It does seem that in terms of management Steve Jobs has been doing a more hands on job with Apple. Bill Gates and his wife Melinda started the Bill and Melinda Foundation dedicated to education, health care and fighting poverty and that is where we have seen his focus in the past few years. Steve Jobs is clearly dedicated to the success of Apple even in his illness. While I will probably always use a PC instead of a Mac (maybe) I have great respect for the job Steve Jobs has done in terms of saving and revamping the company.

I am not much of a blogger. I mean I get the concept, I enjoy reading other people’s and I as of right now I am willing to learn about it. Till now Twitter has been my blog, 140 characters or less is safe. This is new. I probably won’t blog about anything important with the exception of How I Met Your Mother. I feel like it’s going to come up a lot. But aside from blogging about pointless things this blog IS for class and the video we watched was informative and clearly dated. I had no idea where the idea for the internet spanned from, now I do and I appreciate everyone who made it possible for me to be blogging right now.
